Rev G Stearns an entrepreneur and business development executive, with more than 25 years in high-tech.
An inventor with patents for developing artificial intelligence technology. Leader of global programs at Hewlett Packard for more than 10 years. His pursuit and advocacy for innovation led to opportunities where Stearns consulted on technology for Fortune 500 companies. He has consulted with industry leaders on technology, such as Bill Gates of Microsoft, and made presentations at workshops for MIT Media Labs.
Stearns has a vast range of start-up experience, which includes key positions at a privately funded hospitality software company and a penny stock national text paging company. His experience also includes managing business development for a national broadband services provider that went public and was later acquired by Direct TV.
His extensive technology consulting experience includes work related to board-level computer design, operating systems, compilers, graphical user interface application development environments, PDA connectivity kits/handheld applications, national land line and wireless network design. It also includes consulting for the development of the following: office application suites as well as enterprise applications for accounting, payroll, customer service, operations management, multi-state warehousing, and dispatch.
Stearns is educated in philosophy, psychology, religion, and technology. His areas of interest and advocacy also leverage his expertise in web design, electronic publications, and Radio/TV production. He is actively involved in non-profit community activities and advocacy initiatives. Stearns is the founder of the University of The UnKnown, the Post-Hospice Community Grief to Joy Network, and Green Tech Advocacy Films.

Certain Knowledgegate, Inc., WIRELESS*Unified Messaging intellectual property was acquired by Telocity, Inc., a nationwide broadband service provider.
After DirecTV acquired Telocity, developed a Communication Service package suite for individuals, families, home offices, and people on the go. Pursued the telecommuter communications market by developing a system specification and team for a PBX extension service. Developed a Communication Services strategy and roadmap for Telocity and moved into development to execute it.

Developed product plans and prototypes of unified messaging integration with assistants on new WAP data-enabled mobile phones and devices. Conducted business development with wireless carriers, device manufacturers, and enterprise customer premises equipment suppliers.
Proposed, designed, and managed the development of an automated dispatch system for a regional LTL freight carrier that included mobile data entry over digital cellular smart phones using a WAP internet interface. This system also included DTMF touch-tone interfaces, computer telephone voice messaging integration, text messaging, dispatching using graphical information system mapping, and shipper pickup request integration.

Initiated new product concepts within business teams in the United States and Europe for Hewlett Packard. Investigated operating systems and deferred user tasks for interactive television products. Led a cross-functional team in the specification of a mobile computing client server product for notebook, pen, handheld, and wireless computers. This included voice mail, FAX, paging, and agent functionality. Software engineering, architecture, project and program management of a 5-year program for object-oriented agents. Grew this product delivery program from one person to 16 people in three project teams plus over 20 other contributors across the company, third parties, and universities. Managed software applications and developer kits for each release under Microsoft Windows, including marketing, support, computer-based training, and documentation. Development included natural language, animation, speech input and output, visual programming, automatic program generation, scripting, and expert system integration. participated in the production of a vision video and product videos communicating the direction for computing in the 100s. Managed presentations at the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) conferences and MIT Media Lab. Contributed to the development of a distributed object-oriented application architecture and consulted on patent infringements in the landmark Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Apple Computer user interface look-and-feel lawsuit. Designed and developed a PC-based client/server application development environment that included a windowing user interface, computer-based training, help, transparent server data access, expert system integration, and software portability.

Managed the development of a vertical market application that included general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, payroll, and management reporting. Built a software development organization in two months, including equipment, policies and procedures, quality assurance, software support, research and development of 10 employees plus part-time contractors. Delivered the first product in 8 months. Participated in the startup phase of investor presentations and cooperative software strategy.

Designed and developed software components for a fault-tolerant resume retrieval system that allowed English-like query language for search the resume database.

Developed system architecture specifications and managed the development of an electronic messaging system for the delivery of text messages to alphanumeric pocket receivers around the United States. This included network design, synchronous protocol design, and the development of a fault-tolerant network server for user administration and billing transactions.

Conducted pre-sales customer requirements analysis, post-sales system specification and installation plans for distribution systems. Coordinated new research projects, including new minicomputers, devices, their use in real-time warehouse applications, and managed their development. Developed functional, diagnostic, and acceptance test procedures for radio data terminals.

Designed, coded, and tested system software for report generators and I/O routines for a floppy-based desktop microcomputer. Developed floppy disk copy and hard disk backup utilities. Consulted with vendors, distributors, and end users on minicomputer and desktop microcomputer support issues.

Founder, general partner, and co-designer of a single-board, interrupt-drive microcomputer system that included cassette tape, video display, keyboard, and serial interfaces. Manufactured and delivered to a state university, and provided classroom training. Co-designed a handheld language translator and sold the patent rights to individual investors.
